What we do

There are thousands of disabled ex-servicemen and women in this country. They have been injured in conflicts around the globe over many decades. Now most of them are elderly and often frail and although their essential needs may be provided for, The "Not Forgotten" Association is able to give them some of the "extras" which most of us take for granted, something to look forward to – something to make life worth living. Those eligible are ex-service or serving men and women who have a War Pension or are in receipt of compensation from the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme or who are currently suffering from some form of ill-health. We ensure that they are not forgotten by providing the following "entertainment" which brings a little happiness and joy into their lives:

Televisions

This is our most popular service. We provide televisions for those whose mobility is so restricted that they can't get out and about much whether they are living in their own houses or in ex-service Care Homes.

We also pay for the Television Licence for those disabled ex–Servicemen and women where there is a financial need.

Garden Party and Christmas Party

Her Majesty The Queen graciously allows the Association to hold a summer Garden Party in the gardens of Buckingham Palace each year and a Christmas Party in the State Apartments of St James's Palace and we are therefore able to entertain over 1500 War Pensioners at these prestigious events.

Holidays

There are many whose disabilities make it difficult for them (or those who care for them day after day) ever to take a holiday. Last year hundreds of deserving people were able to take part in either our Group Holidays or subsidised individual holidays. In addition we enable veterans to make pilgrimages to the battlefields where their fallen comrades lie and we help those courageous youngsters of more recent conflicts to compete in sports for the disabled.

Concerts

To someone confined to being indoors everyday it makes a very welcome change to see a live show – to meet entertainers, to join in the banter and songs, to participate. It all makes such a difference. That's why we arrange concerts at ex-service care homes nationwide which are greatly appreciated. No one is forgotten.

Outings

An excursion to somewhere of interest, a display, a day out on the river, steam train trips, race meetings, an occasion to get together for a meal and a drink – companionship – a treat to look forward to!

The Association arranges outings for hundreds of eligible people each year across the United Kingdom.
